My Son died suddenly at Huntington Methodist Hospital in Arcadia. I live in San Diego. Having recently gone through this process with my Mom, I realized the services vary widely in costs and also pressure on a grieving loved one. I called several Funeral homes prior to choosing Chapman in Arcadia. The first few that I called made me feel creepy. There was no sympathy or compassion. Just folks going through the motions, just doing their jobs When Cindy at Chapman answered the phone, I felt like I was talking to my Mom. She was sweet, kind, sympathetic and extremely understanding and straightforward. I explained my situation and that I really wanted to take care of my Son before the weekend (they are closed on the weekend) However, I was 3 hours away and it was Friday afternoon. After a quick call to the owner. Cindy called me back and volunteered to meet me after hours and whenever I could get there, give her a call. I called her when I got close and Cindy was waiting for me around 8pm. Despite the fact that the computer was down, she hand wrote everything. She was so kind and understanding . She really helped me through this painful process. Since I already knew what I wanted, there was never any pressure to purchase anything above and beyond. As I said before. I recently went through this with my Mom and Chapman was1/6th the price of what we paid for the exact same service somewhere else. I would have given 5 stars except for it did take a bit longer than I anticipated to get my Son's ashes back. I was, aware that this could be the case as I was informed that the date of return wasn't guaranteed and subject to the supply and demand. I would definitely recommend Chapman Funeral home. My suggestion would be not to plan your memorial service until you have your loved ones cremains if that is important to you. At the end of the day, it really didn't matter.
I shopped for services and found either extremely high fees or scary bad reviews. Then I found Chapman. This is a truly mom and pop operation. They were very helpful and kind. Their fees were very reasonable and clearly explained ahead of time. They even accommodated my schedule without question. I can't recommend them highly enough. Thank you!
